 I am a wedding officiant in Humble Texas, so I will provide information for Harris County. However, I would love to officiate for you in your county as well, and I will. Just be sure to check the marriage license details within YOUR SPECIFIC COUNTY.

There is a 72-hour waiting period between the issuance of a marriage license and the ceremony, with certain exceptions. And a marriage license expires if a ceremony isn't conducted before the 90th day after the license was issued. 

NOTE: ACTIVE DUTY IS EXEMPT FROM THE 72 HOUR WAITING PERIOD AND CAN BE MARRIED SAME DAY OF LICENSE ISSUANCE (check website for exemption requirements).

When choosing your vendors, your officiant should be chosen carefully and early on, at least eight months before your wedding day. Not a rule, but doing so not only helps you plan for the kind of ceremony and wedding you will have, but also the kind of marriage you are both hoping to have. 1910 Harris County Courthouse is a high demand courthouse & a beautiful elopement location, in downtown Houston (if you're not choosing my Humble location hehe). [Per Judge Karahan] Historic 1910 Harris County Courthouse Weddings —  The 1910 Courthouse is a public-access, working government building that makes a lovely wedding venue in the lobby rotunda on the second floor and on the grounds outside during selected hours. Courthouse officials have sole authority over the public’s use of the building at all times, including weddings. Weddings inside an actual courtroom or the third floor balcony, elevator and stairs are not available to the general public but there are other options for the ceremony both inside and outside the Courthouse. The rotunda is closed to weddings when court is in session on Mondays and Fridays, and on other days generally beginning at 1:30, therefore, Judge Karahan officiates weddings inside the Courthouse on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 10:45am, 11:30am and 12:15pm, while weddings outside the Courthouse can be performed at any time on most days from late September through early May. Mid May through early September weddings may be performed outside only before noon. Inside or outside Courthouse weddings on week days can accommodate NO MORE than 12 wedding participants (wedding couple and guests) plus 1 photographer (TOTAL OF 13 PEOPLE). No exceptions. Please note that there is NO authorized valet service at the courthouse.

• The Courthouse is located at 301 Fannin St, and there is nearby covered public parking available at 1019 Congress St, and many surface lots within 3 blocks of the Courthouse, as well as paid street parking where available. The courthouse is closed for public access weddings inside on weekends. 
• Weddings inside a courtroom and the 3rd floor balcony and stairs are no longer available to the general public.
• Weddings inside the rotunda can only be performed if hearings or other court business allows access. Therefore, please be prepared to perform your wedding outside, with entry into the courthouse only if it is available.
